Moving from a marketplace app to your own booking page
Marketplace apps are good at one thing: putting your salon in front of people who have never heard of you. The trade-off is commission on those bookings and a client list that lives inside their app. The sensible move is not to delete the marketplace on day one. It is to run your own booking page alongside it and shift the regulars across.
Your own booking page for £35 a month. No commission. Free trial, no card needed.
Start your free trialStep 1: set up your own page first
Services, prices, durations, staff, hours, reminders, deposits. Test it by booking yourself from your phone.
Step 2: export what you can
Most marketplaces let you export at least names and appointment history. Import them so returning clients are recognised.
Step 3: tell regulars, one appointment at a time
At the end of each appointment: "Next time, book straight with me here, it is quicker and you get reminders." Put the link on the receipt, the mirror, your Instagram bio and Google Business Profile.
Step 4: keep the marketplace for new faces
Leave the marketplace profile up if it still brings new clients. Their second booking goes through your page, commission-free.
Step 5: review after three months
Check what share of bookings still comes through the marketplace. When it is mostly new clients, the switch has worked. Decide then whether the listing still earns its keep.
What you gain
- No commission on repeat bookings.
- Your client data, exportable at any time.
- Your brand on the booking page, not theirs.
- Reminders, deposits and intake forms you control.
Frequently asked questions
Will I lose clients when I switch?
Not if you run both side by side for a while and tell people one at a time. Regulars follow the stylist, not the app.
Can I keep my marketplace listing?
Yes. Many salons keep it purely for new-client discovery and move everyone else to their own page.
